Community-Based Services is Ateneo Bulatao Center’s arm that provides free services at a community level. This arm recruits and trains Psychologists and Graduate Psychology students to facilitate interventions that support the mental health of Filipino communities. Currently, the CBS offers its flagship program, Katatagan+ for free to those who sign up
The Katatagan+ Program is an 8-module evidence-based community mental health program that aims to develop skills that would increase one’s resilience during distressing situations. The program is conducted in groups of 6-10 participants across a span of 8 weeks. This program focuses on aims to help participants practice:
Self-awareness and self-efficacy
Mindfulness
Distress Tolerance
Emotion Regulation
Adaptive coping and healthy behaviors
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Problem Solving and social support

CBS provides the Katatagan+ program for free in two waves annually, with each wave accommodating 70-100 participants. The 8 modules cover:

TRAINING
CBS also aims to train, mentor and provide supervision to graduate students in facilitating interventions such as the Katatagan+ Program, and provide them with opportunity to practice facilitating the program.
RESEARCH
CBS collects data from participants on their Coping strategies, Socio-emotional competence, Well-being, Depression, and Anxiety before joining the program and upon its completion. This helps CBS to gauge its efficacy improve program implementation for future runs, and understand the nuances of mental health conditions in Filipino communities
